Port McNeill to Campbell River, Cortes Island, Dent Island, Toba Wilderness & Powell River, B.C. Canada (248NM)
The weather held until our departure from Campbell River. As we approach the skinny entry to Cortes Lagoon a massive squall releases a deluge of water creating a white-out situation with strong wind gusts. We decide to wait out the weather before entering the narrow passage way to Cortes Marina. With that bit of weather behind us, all of our other transits were smooth. Dent Island was a pleasant stop with friendly folks at the dock and a spectacular hour long show by a trio of Pacific White-Sided Dolphins. Our second attempt at fishing was while leaving Dent and now Larry can say he caught a fish!

The best view from a gym ever
You have to time your entry to Dent, as there are a few sporty areas with rapids. Waiting until slack to exit or enter. Therefore, the docks will empty and fill at these times.
This place is truly special. The views are amazing where ever you look.
We ask one of the employees about a hiking and the bears. They let us know that trial dogs are available. You just go by the ‘Estero’ cottage and shout for Daisy and Dixie and they will escort you on your hike.

We had the most amazing experience right by the dock at Dent. A mother Pacific White-Sided Dolphin, her baby and a third dolphin spent at least an hour fishing in the rapids.
