I really enjoy the sweet town of Anacortes and the Cap Sante Marina. I wish we could have stayed longer than just an overnight but there is a Nordhavn Rendezvous in Everett, Washington and we would like to stop by and say hi to a couple people from the original Independence days. The Captain has also decided to check another item off his ‘bucket list’ which involves taking the boat through Deception Pass. We have driven over the pass a few years ago and stopped to check it out but never gone through on a boat. Like most things in life, if you plan well, it is no big deal. Of course Larry planned well and it was a nice an uneventful ride (perhaps a topic for a Captain’s post?). The Everett Marina was stacked with Nordhavns of all sizes. I believe they had sixty plus boats and an additional twenty boat owners that black-topped to the event. It was fun to see old friends and reminisce about our time as Nordhavn owners. After leaving Everett we popped into the Elliot Bay Marina for the evening and were really propelled down memory lane by seeing the original Independence (now renamed) in a slip at the marina. She looks fabulous, which was wonderful to see. To know that she is well cared for and that her new family is loving and enjoying her and creating new memories makes Larry and I feel fabulous. The next day we make the quick jump across the water to Bainbridge where we will stay for a day or two.
